Mentor Coaching

Prepare for your credentialing initiative with Mentor Coaching sessions. ICF requires 10 hours of mentor coaching sessions for most credentialing options. This is the opportunity to collaborate on improving the skills you identify as goals for yourself. This may mean gaining confidence, developing new techniques, and plans for your preparation. This is a reflective process over a minimum of 3 months.

Ellen's qualifications include her credentials as an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) as well as a BCC Executive Coach. She has successfully completed the ICF "ACC BARS Assessor Training" as well as the ICF "Comprehensive ICF PCC Marker Assessor Training" and is currently training for "Advanced Certification in Team Coaching".

* BARS = Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scales. BARS and the PCC Markers are how success is determined for completion of the ACC and PCC assessments.

Mentor Coaching provides one-on-one coaching sessions focused on your skill development and includes:

  • Reflection and review of recordings

  • Feedback based on ICF markers for the credential you are pursuing

  • Delivered over a 3 month minimum per ICF standards

What is Mentor Coaching?

Are you pursuing certification as an ACC, PCC, or MCC? Maybe it's time to renew your ACC. Mentor coaching is the tool that provides candidates with the insights they need to be successful. The process is about a safe space to share questions and insights. We'll talk through situations that may be challenging you and we'll share feedback from recordings for submission as part of credentialing.

If you are ready to renew your ACC, you'll find the discussions contribute to the further development of your coaching skills.

Individual Mentor Coaching is provided in 5 or 10 hour increments and must extend over a minimum 3-month period. See this ICF page for additional information and reach out if you would like to discuss the process in more detail.

Group Mentor Coaching is periodically offered and includes 7 hours of Group Mentor sessions and 3 hours of one to one sessions that are individually scheduled.

Before joining the Mentor Coaching program, we need to meet each other and make sure you will feel comfortable working together. Please use the link at the top to schedule a conversation.

Supervision Hours (for coaches and leaders of people)

The European Coaching and Mentoring Council defines Supervision as:

“A safe space for reflective dialogue with a practicing supervisor, supporting the supervisee’s practice, development and well being.”

The International Coaching Federation defines Supervision as:

“Coaching supervision is a dynamic and reflective process of collaboration, guidance and support through which coaches develop their personal, professional, and ethical capacity and maturity.”

The description I usually share is the following:

“Supervision is the opportunity to reflect and dig deeper into your coaching and leadership skills. You’ll come to understand yourself better as well as identify how your values impact the way you show up when interacting with other people. The process is not about ‘fixing or correcting anything’ you do. The process is an opportunity to identify any assumptions or bias you may not be aware of as well as how to have more authentic conversations with clients and those you lead. The impact of this provides more clarity and connection with your clients.”

Ellen’s Qualifications

For over twenty years, Ellen has been working with leaders to improve their openness to different perspectives and their communication clarity. My supervision style is very authentic and open. We’ll spend time on specific topics you bring as well as utilizing reflective practices to support personal development and boost skills. While mentor coaching is more focused on specific goals such as credentials or renewals, supervision is about continuous skill development on your coaching journey.

Ellen is currently approved as a Supervisor by the ICF and is an EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA) Senior Practitioner through the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). Upon completion of the current training program through Crucial Differences, Ellen will be eligible to apply for the EMCC Global Supervision Individual Accreditation (ESIA).

Ellen is a regular volunteer for several ICF initiatives.

2023-2025, Co-lead of the Executive and Leadership Community of Practice

2024-2025, Selected Writer for the ICF Coaching Body of Competencies and Knowledge (CoachBOCK) publication.

2025-present, Selected member of the Exam and Schemes Committee

Team Training / Facilitation

Communication is the most common challenge organizations face. If you are uncertain where to begin with training for your team, begin with a communication styles session. When individuals have a better understanding about the different communication styles of team members as well as the priorities they represent, true conversations can happen without assumptions or heated topics. Our training will prepare leaders for those difficult conversations on topics only they can address.

Team building sessions can be created around any challenge or initiative your team is facing. Examples include innovation, change management, and clear communications. These sessions are driven by engaging activities that support respectful appreciation for the diversity and strengths of the team members.

Everything DiSC® assessments can also be utilized to make better connections with communication styles for team and personal development.
